Exhibition and Opening Reception

  • Hillsboro Civic Center 150 East Main Street Hillsboro, OR, 97123 United States (map)

The Immigrant Story is proud to present our newest exhibition, “Our Community, Our Stories,” honoring immigrants and refugees who are building new lives in our community.

This exhibition features eight profiles, portraits and personal stories of Hillsboro immigrants and refugees. Our staff documented these stories in 2017 and 2018, chronicling journeys, the search for belonging, and the struggles these immigrants faced in their adopted country.

This is a free community event.

The exhibition will be on display at the Hillsboro Civic Center beginning January 15, 2019,and running through April 2019.

Please join us for an opening reception during the First Tuesday Art Walk on February 5, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E. Main Street, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123.

After the reception, please join The Immigrant Story to address the Hillsboro City Council.

Snacks, appetizers, and drinks provided.

The Immigrant Story is proud to be a platform for all underrepresented voices in our community. Our hope is that this display will provide an opportunity for visitors to explore the strength, resilience, and diversity within our community and to celebrate the vibrancy that our new neighbors bring with them to their new home.

The Immigrant Story believes that by sharing our stories, we can enhance empathy and thereby contribute to the creation of a shared community and a greater humanity.

When you help us share these powerful stories, you help change the narrative in today’s America.

We are thankful to the city of Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts division for providing this opportunity. We also want to thank our partners, Pro Photo Supply, Rhino Digital Printing, and the Cultural Coalition of Washington County for their sponsorship.
