Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon's Metro HomeShare helps Home Providers stabilize and retain their housing, while offering access to affordable rent or services to Home Seekers.
In a home share arrangement, we work with Home Providers to identify their needs, which may include financial burdens, loneliness, or inability to live alone and complete everyday tasks. We also work with Home Seekers who may be unable to qualify for traditional affordable housing options, facing homelessness, and cannot afford market-rate rents. We then facilitate the matching process until a homeshare agreement has been made. Additionally, we offer case management services to support both parties for up to two years once a match has been made.
Our program is a revitalization and a relaunch of EMO's previous home share program Shared Housing, which was closed in 2013 due to government budget cuts. Shared Housing was responsible for thousands of home share agreements in the Portland metro area. We are excited to continue expanding on the success and impact of Shared Housing through Metro HomeShare.
