New for 2019: Organizational Video Profiles

Potential volunteers contact us regularly and want to know how they can get involved with organizations near them doing good to help refugees, immigrants and the forcibly displaced. While we do have an informative list of organizations in the region, we know sometimes it is just easier to watch a video and get a better visual feel for who is out there and what they do. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new program for 2019 in which RVO will begin partnering with organizations in the area who don’t have an updated promotional video already in use.

If you would like to be considered as a video grant recipient, please fill out this form below.

Cool Islam, founded in 2016, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, empower and establish our youths regardless of race, religion, color and gender.

Cool Islam hosts a wide variety of activities that would be helpful and rewarding for refugee youth and their families.

These are a good example of what they offer:

  • Packing 100 lunches--and love--for the women's shelter

  • Youth open forum in which parents and youth dialogue (to increase effective communication between generations)

  • Family fun afternoon at Barsotti park (soccer, kite flying and more)

Cool Islam has indicated that given notice they will attempt to find someone who speaks the language of any refugee.

Youth can get after school help, career coaching, ESL tutoring or join the Young Writers Club. Cool Islam also seeks to strengthen the families of these youth, offering marriage and family workshops.

See below, pictures that illustrate the myriad number of activities they sponsor from bicycle repair workshops to archery, swimming and horse back riding.
